The Warsaw office was opened in July 2014, dynamically growing to 140 employees in just 3 years.
Clients bring us their greatest challenges – problems that global companies, non-profit organizations and even government institutions can’t always solve without outside expertise. The main focus of Empowered Warsaw is to promote a better understanding of ethnic and cultural diversity and to create an open and safe environment in which everyone can feel welcome regardless of their origin, language, or culture.
We organize events for employees where they can learn about other cultures (eg. Presentations on China, Russia, Kenia, multiculturalism in historical Poland). Broadening cultural awareness can also be done outside of the office, for example during the Oliver Wyman sponsored trip to the Museum of the History of Polish Jews or with one of the fiction or documentary films from the Oliver Wyman movie library that is available to everyone.
Our inclusive culture is built on theoretical discussions during events such as the Diversity Forum or the Appropriate Language Discussion but also through action – partnering with HejtStop by volunteering to paint over racist graffiti on buildings. Almost every month there is some event worth attending, but the values that we share and promote at Oliver Wyman shape our positive environment every day.
GLOW advocates for the unique needs of Oliver Wyman’s LESBIAN, GAY, BISEXUAL AND TRANS* (LGBT*) colleagues and their ALLIES. GLOW champions initiatives that encourage cultural awareness and transformation within Oliver Wyman Group and increases our engagement with external LGBT* recruits, clients and community organizations.
June is a Pride Month and Oliver Wyman, through many activities, is heavily engaged in propagating the message tied to this month – a message about inclusion and diversity. The month of June was chosen for LGBT* Pride Month to commemorate the Stonewall riots, which occurred at the end of June 1969. Many pride events are held during this month to recognize the impact LGBT community has had in the world.
In 2016 GLOW Warsaw organized the Pride Month Panel Discussion hosting guest speakers from the Dutch and USA embassies, and a representative from Campaign Against Homophobia. Our speakers shared best practices as far as the issue of the LGBT* inclusion in the workspace is concerned, but also to provide a more general picture of the LGBT* issues/experiences/approaches in the Netherlands, USA and Poland. The GLOW team also proudly represented Oliver Wyman at the Warsaw Equality Parade, organized fund-raising for the Parade Foundation and a Pride Month Quiz to raise awareness about the LGBT*-related topics.
Women at Oliver Wyman (WOW) is a cross-Oliver Wyman Group employee resource and networking group focused on catalyzing the firm’s ability to attract, develop and retain highly talented women and to unlock their potential to drive business performance. Our objectives are to attract, retain and develop our female talent to their full potential; foster a more respectful and inclusive environment for everyone and be an ambassador for the Oliver Wyman brand externally (with clients, with recruits). The aim of WOW is to enable Oliver Wyman Group to be the consulting firm of choice for women in a manner that benefits all colleagues and clients.
Warsaw WOW Chapter was launched in August 2014. Since then we strongly embrace global WOW culture by organizing: Sharing stories sessions with our Senior Female leadership which is a global initiative aiming to increase the visibility of, and access to, out leaders at Oliver Wyman; we celebrate each year Women’s day, Mother’s day and Breast Cancer Awareness month by organizing various events combining self-development trainings, workshops and entertainment.
